CARRIE FISHER’S ASHES CARRIED IN PROZAC PILL URN AS SHE IS LAID TO REST WITH DEBBIE REYNOLDS

[1/7/17]  Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has been laid to rest alongside her mother Debbie Reynolds, with her ashes carried to the funeral in a Prozac pill urn.

Family and friends of the star, best known for playing Princess Leia in the film series, said it was a fitting tribute to a woman who was open about her mental health problems.

The actresses were laid to rest during a private funeral service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.

Todd Fisher, Carrie’s brother and Debbie’s son, took his sister’s ashes to the service in the oversized Prozac ornament, which he said was her “favourite possession”.

The drug, which is used to treat depression, was a reference to Fisher’s bipolar disorder and the star’s work as a mental health advocate.

“Carrie’s favourite possession was a giant Prozac pill that she brought home years ago,” Mr Fisher said.

“She loved it. It was in her house and Billie (Fisher’s daughter) and I felt it was where she would want to be.”

“Carrie would like that. It was her favourite thing and so that’s how you do it.”
