(Warner Todd Huston) Christians conducting a “silent” vigil outside the Florida home of a Planned Parenthood abortion mill CEO were arrested by a Winter Park, Florida SWAT team on May 18 for merely standing quietly and reading the Bible–also silently.
Anti-abortion activists Pat McEwen, Jay Rogers, and Cheryl Bischoff were arrested by police outside the residence of Jenna Tosh, the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando.
According to McEwen, “Cheryl was holding a small sign with a picture of a beautiful baby and the words ‘Celebrate Life!’ I was reading silently from my Bible and praying. Jay was filming. Without warning all three of us were arrested. The charge was ‘picketing where prohibited.’ Yes, in the United States of America this happened to gentle Christians on the public sidewalk.”
McEwen posted the experience on the website www.forerunner.com.
In separate post, Michele Herzog noted that the unit that came to arrest the trio were members of the police SWAT team and arrived with a full compliment of battle gear and high-powered weapons including machine guns. Though the officers were not in riot gear, that gear was in their vehicles on the scene.
“We don’t know for certain that they [the SWAT Team] thought these peaceful Christians were ‘dangerous.’ Or did they? And why did they have to bring a machine gun? Of course, that makes the story more interesting,” Herzog wrote.
Recently Winter Park’s city commissioners passed an ordinance to prohibit “residential picketing” in order to assist Mz Tosh to keep protesters from her home. The three protesters that were arrested on the 18th were arrested under that local rule.
The trio, however, dispute the claim made by the First Amendment-squashing police. They claim they weren’t picketing at all. They were silently standing without targeting anyone or making any ruckus.
Recently it was revealed that Planned Parenthood is actively working to have the Department of Homeland Security and the Immigration services use federal dollars to give free abortions to illegal immigrants.
