Maryland Legislator Arrested For Indecent Exposure

(American Mirror)  There’s an adage that goes, “The most dangerous place is between a politician and a camera.”

That takes on a whole new meaning as Democrat Maryland Del. Ariana B. Kelly is accused of indecent exposure.

Bethesda police say Kelly was dropping her children off to her ex-husband’s house and became incensed after seeing his fiancée inside.

According to Barak Sanford, whom Kelly divorced in November, “Kelly started ringing the doorbell and banging on the door and that he asked her to leave,” the Washington Post reports.

Sanford allegedly captured on his cell phone camera Kelly ringing the doorbell “numerous times,” exposing her breasts for the camera and then “with one breast in each hand [shaking] them up and down.”

An officer arrived on the scene and ordered the politician to leave–a request she allegedly refused.

She was also told she could be arrested for indecent exposure.

According to court documents, Kelly said, “Arrest me then,” and she held her hands out for cuffing.

She was arrested.

“Ariana is vigorously disputing the allegations,” her attorney, former State Del. Luiz Simmons, tellsBethesda Magazine. “We will be in court in the next month. Divorce is very painful and punishing, even for members of the General Assembly. This arose out of a private dispute between Ariana and her ex-husband… and unfortunately it’s now where it is.”

Kelly was re-elected in 2014. She was first elected in 2011.

Del. Shane Robinson, the chair of the Montgomery County House delegation, is standing by her.

“From my perspective, it’s a private family matter and I expect it’s going to be resolved appropriately,” Robinson says.

He adds the charges against his colleague, which include trespassing, are “a distraction.”

“It’s a very private matter we’re talking about,” Robinson says, referring to her divorce. “Readers have no background on any of that information, I think that’s the unfortunate thing.”

He didn’t elaborate as to in what context it’s appropriate for an elected official to take “one breast in each hand” and “shake them up and down.”
