Possible East Coast Blizzard on Friday

Hot off the Presses: 12z GFS trended west with storm track and snowfall.

(DC Storms) Latest GFS has trended west with storm track and accumulating snow into the Washington Region.

An area of low pressure will form along the Gulf coast on Thursday eventually tracking up the eastern seaboard Thursday night and Friday.  How close this system tracks to the coast and how quickly the storm phases with a piece of energy tracking through the Midwest will determine how much if any snow falls on the Washington Area on Friday.

As this storm system pulls away, record shattering cold will drop southward out of eastern Canada into New England and the Mid-Atlantic states on Friday and Saturday.  Temperatures will run some 20 to 30 degrees below normal! If we end up with snow pack on the ground, the Washington Area could see low temperatures dropping into the single digits (suburbs) with lower teens downtown with highs struggling to get out of the upper teens and lower 20s!
