(Jacob Goodwin) The U.S. Secret Service has indicated that it plans to negotiate sole source contracts with one commercial company and one state government in order to gain access to their proprietary databases.
In a December 6 presolicitation notice, the Secret Service announced that it will negotiate on a sole source basis with Appriss, Inc., of Louisville, KY, to use an unspecified database created by that company.
“Since 1994, Appriss has provided innovative software-based services that help hundreds of local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies keep communities safe and informed,” explains the company on its own Web site.
“Our various technology solutions range from automated victim notification (VINE, our flagship service), to criminal justice information sharing, electronic document storage, protective order and court notification services, electronic citation and warrant systems, and more,” Appriss added.
The Secret Service also indicated in a separate notice, released on December 6, that it plans to negotiate with the Illinois Department of Central Management Services, in the state capital of Springfield, IL, to gain access to the Illinois Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) for a base period of one year, plus four one-year option periods.
The Secret Service said it expects to issue its award to the State of Illinois on or about December 13.
